Crazy busy from morning to night. Scrambled to get Jack off to school (kept remembering things I forgot to do like write a check for school picture day). Headed up to meet friends Linda and Lisa at Mimi's Cafe for brunch at 10:00. Got there about 9:30 and sat in the sun outside the restaurant grading papers until they arrived. Had great conversation over eggs benedict. Headed over to UVU and graded papers until class started. Read three pieces with the class and discussed their rhetorical elements. Once again, it all went well in my first class and it was like pulling teeth to get my second class to dig deep. Honestly, we read Ann Cannon's latest Deseret News column (a fabulous study in varied sentence structure). My first class laughed out loud long and hard. I'm sure the students in my second class were laughing inside (how could they not?), but it was way too quiet in the classroom. When I got home I couldn't find Jack anywhere. It's early out day on Wednesday and he's supposed to go to his friend Brett's house after school. Let's just say it all turned out okay and Jack is officially tired of getting lectured. I barely made it down to the museum in time to give a tour of the exhibition to a children's book review group comprised primarily of children's librarians throughout the valley. Then I rushed to get to girls' night out with some friends from the neighborhood. We ate lots of Mexican food and went to see The Women. Movie was okay. Laughing all evening with friends was great! Got home in time to hang out with Jack and read before bed.
